Obituary of Rosalie Gannuscio Marino
Rosalie (Gannuscio) Marino, 96 ,of Westbrook, beloved wife of the late C. J. "Larry" Marino, passed away peacefully on December 14th surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 19, 1915 in Enfield, a daughter of the late Philip and Concetta (Campisi) Gannuscio. She was the last of six children from a generation who came to this country in search of a better life. During World War II she worked for the Superior Court of the State of Connecticut in Hartford. After leaving the court she was able to be at home to raise her family in Middletown and Westbrook. What Rose wanted most for them was to have a good education. Values of respect were instilled to include older relatives, the deaf and less fortunate. She was a supportive wife, understanding the need for her husband to have numerous civic interests. She was one of the original members of the St. Mark Ladies Guild and choir, a Girl Scout leader and member of the Westbrook Garden Club. She was inducted, along with her husband, into the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. She is survived by her daughter, Joanne Marino-Murray and son Anthony Marino and his wife Patricia. She was a loving grandmother to Margaret, Deirdre, Colin, Catie & Chris and great grandmother to Reid, Samantha and Alexandra. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband she is predeceased by her beloved son-in-law George L. Murray, III, brothers and sisters, Mary, Sam, Pete, Tony, and Josephine. She enjoyed many years traveling with her husband to warmer climates; she knew everyone's favorite meal and delighted in preparing it for them. In her spare time she loved to play Scrabble and do crossword puzzles. Rose will be remembered for her love of family. We would like to express our appreciation to all of her caregivers who gave her companionship and comfort in her final years of life.
