Obituary of Joseph Yenovich

Joseph Yenovich (Yenowich), 77, of Chester died on December 23rd at Yale New Haven Hospital after a brief illness, surrounded by his family. The son of Russian immigrants, the late Fanny and Kostenty Yenowich, Joe was born on the family farm in Chester, on July 27th, 1934. He attended Chester schools and was in the first class to graduate from the newly established Valley Regional High School. He was valedictorian of his class. He started working on the farm and later began fixing pinball machines in his younger years. His engineering aptitude led him to become an operations manager for Ampex in Taiwan during the 1960's and 1970's, then the general manager of Electronic Memories and Magnetics Taiwan, an electronics plant that made military aviation products. Upon his return to the United States he moved to Arizona, where he ran an import/export business, then managed an automotive repair facility for a number of years before his last job at a pest control company. He traveled the world and resided in various locales; California, Ireland, Taiwan, Arizona, and finally, upon retirement, back to the family farm in Chester. He is survived by his wife, Mei Chun (Angie) Yenovich; his son, Shango Yenovich and wife Carrie of Deep River; his daughter, Shanme and husband J.D. Dalton of Alpharetta, Georgia; grandchildren Destinee and Dmitri Yenovich, Aiden and Ryder Dalton, and was happily expecting the birth of his fifth grandchild, Emily Josephine Dalton on January 5th. Also surviving are his sisters Thelma Culver, Matilda Dumbrill and husband Richard, Sophie Janet, Lillian Bella, as well as a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Marie Young in Arizona, and brothers-in-law Louis Sherwood, Donald Culver, Walt Young, Stanley Janet and Joe Bella. A memorial service will be held on his birthday in July where his ashes will be spread in the orchard he tended for so many years.
