Obituary of Leslie A. Brooke

Leslie A. Brooke, Jr., 56, a lifelong resident of Ivoryton passed away on Thursday evening, January 19th at the Middlesex Hospital in Middletown. Les was born January 4, 1956 in Middletown the son of the late Leslie A. and Arline (Crowell) Brooke. He was a 1974 graduate of Valley Regional High School in Deep River and was employed as a machinist at The Lee Company from March of 1979 until January of 2011. Les was a proud member of the Essex Fire Engine Co. #1 for over 20 years and was also a member of the Westbrook Elks Lodge #1784 and the Sobieski Club in Deep River. He was a well known DJ on the Shoreline and was very proud of his restoration of his 1946 Farmall Tractor. He leaves his four sisters, Arline B. Cardoso, of Middletown, Pamela B. Stevens and her husband Charles of Old Saybrook, Roberta "Robin" B. Austin, of Westbrook and Arizona, Candace B. Leary, of Norwood, MA, his brother, J. Michael Brooke and his companion Delores Raffa both of Westbrook. Les also leaves many nieces and nephews and his beloved cats Junior and Suzie. Visitation will be held at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street in Centerbrook on Friday, January 27th from 5-7 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 28th at 1:00 pm. at the Essex Fire Engine Company #1 Headquarters, 11 Saybrook Road in Essex.. Burial will follow in the Centerbrook Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Essex Fire Engine Co. #1, P.O.
