Obituary of Genieve Jean Stopa

Genieva K. "Jean" Stopa, 94, a lifelong resident of Deep River passed away at her home on Thursday evening Feb.16th. Jean was born in Deep River on November 9, 1917 the daughter of John and Antolina (Baron) Stopa. She was employed by the L.C. Doane Company in Centerbrook where she was a Supervisor for over 20 years. Jean loved to garden, cook, create ceramics with her niece Betsy, and care for her special great-great nephew Chase. Jean was a communicant and member of the Alter Society at Saint Joseph's Church in Chester. She is survived by her sisters, Mary "Frannie" Stopa, and Catherine Budney both of Deep River, sister-in law, Theresa Stopa of Centerbrook, niece, Marsha Hartigan and her husband Randy of Orlando, FL, nephew, James Budney and his wife Betsy, great-nephew, Steven Budney, and great-great nephew, Chase Budney, all of Deep River. She was predeceased by her brother William Stopa and sister, Sophie T. Stopa. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 22nd at 11:00AM at the Resurrection Cemetery, Route 145, in Westbrook.
