Obituary of Hazel Watrous Archambault
ARCHAMBAULT Hazel Watrous Archambault, age 96, of Haddam, CT and Marco Island, FL, beloved wife of Harry Archambault for nearly 73 years, passed away on August 18, 2014. Daughter of Marion E. and Claude P. Watrous, she was a native and longtime resident of Chester, CT. Loving mother of Karen Archambault Hubbard (Skip) of Chester, Raymond Archambault (Elizabeth) of Chester, Thomas Archambault (Kathleen) of Chester, Mary Archambault Frank (Bryant) of West Bloomfield, MI. Cherished grandmother of Thomas Hubbard (Cheryl), Elizabeth Hubbard, Heather Archambault (Scott Runyon), Seth Archambault, Taylor Archambault (Nicole), William and Alexander Frank. Great-grandmother to Sydney Archambault; Catherine, Claire, and Andrew Hubbard. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Daisy Watrous and Helen Lundberg. She was predeceased by her siblings Kathryn, Phillip, George and Arnold Watrous.
Hazel graduated in 1941 from the University of Connecticut and taught at Chester High School, her alma mater, before joining Harry in Fort Myers, FL, where he was stationed during WWII. After the war, they returned to Chester, where she dedicated her life to her family and the community. For many years, she actively supported The United Church of Chester, the Goodspeed Opera House, Girl Scouts and local education; Hazel also enjoyed traveling, golfing and fishing. She took particular pride in the educational accomplishments of her extended family. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 23 at The United Church of Chester at 29 West Main Street. Burial will precede the service at the "Old Cemetery" in Chester. Mrs. Archambault has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the United Church of Chester, 29 West Main Street, Chester, CT 06412, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
