Obituary of Joseph H. Kerwick
Joseph H. Kerwick, age 85, of Chester, passed away on Sunday morning, April 29th at the UCONN Health Center-John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington. He was the beloved husband of Adrienne (Jameson) Kerwick. He was born in Newark, New Jersey on April 5, 1927 the son of Henry and Anne (Johnson) Kerwick. Joe had been a resident of Chester for the past forty-four years. He was a proud Navy Veteran having served his country during World War II and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a master printer who worked at the W.E. Andrews Company in Hartford, the New Era Printing Company in Deep River and last worked at Lighthouse Printing in Old Saybrook. Joe owned and operated the former Kerwick Café in Deep River which is now the Ivory Pub. He served as a bartender for many years at the United Scandinavian Society in Deep River and also at the Pattaconk Inn in Chester. Joe will be remembered for always having a joke to tell. He loved to play cards and was an avid poker player. Besides his wife of forty-six years Adrienne he leaves his children, Donna Kerwick, of Ivoryton, Jesse White, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL., Carl Kerwick, of San Diego, CA., Brenda Kasimir, of Chester, and Carol Kerwick, of Chester, his grandchildren, Jessica DaRe and Erica and Jakob Kasimir, all of Chester. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 4th from 4:00PM to 6:00PM at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street, in Centerbrook. The rendering of Military Honors will take place at 5:45PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans Honor Guard, 6 George Drive, Old Saybrook, CT 06475.
