I met Joe in 2005 while walking my dog, Joe, on Cedar Lake Road. I had often seen him working in his well maintained garden. Having grown up on a farm, I always appreciated the time and effort that went into growing your own food. One day while walking my dog, Joe said "hey Red" - referring to my red hair. I told him how much I admired his garden. And this was the beginning of a 7 year friendship. Although I helped with the garden, it was Joe's friendship I valued the most. He made the best coffee and told the most wonderful stories of his travels in Africa and his hunting trips in NM. We enjoyed cheeseburgers at Harry's, ice cream cones on the shoreline, cold drinks under the apple & pear trees by the garden and the occassional "sun downer" in the shade by the trailer. I will deeply miss his sharp wit and warm friendship. My life was richer having shared his friendship. God Bless you Joe. Thanks for the wonderful memories.
