Condolences to Stu's family. I met him back in 1988. I was trying to get sober. Stu was instrumental in helping me achieve my goal. HE was living $ the Y in room 208. He drove me all over CT to mtgs. He jammed at Barnum's. Last time I saw him was up at High Watch. So apropos. Now he is chairing that big AA meeting in the sky!

Julie / Clare,
I am so sad to hear of Stuart's death and sorry for your tremendous loss. I'd just found a 2007 letter from him, looked him up to verify address and read the news. We had shared a few letters and calls over the years and I'd visited a few times when my military stationing had me in Massachusetts 89-92, 95-97. Not nearly enough contact; I will bear that forever. He was such a good friend, so happy to see or hear from me and appreciative. My memories from our early teens through his departure for college and beyond are fond and numerous: time on Old Mill Road, at the Beach Club playing tennis and sailing, shooting, traveling, photography, soccer, guitar lessons. I'll treasure them always, especially in the coming days as this sinks in. I'd always felt helpless in the face of his issues and tried to learn more to maybe help, the focus of a visit we had. I can't imagine losing one of our daughters or grandchildren; 'don't what else to say other than please accept my deepest condolences.
Best wishes,
Bill Costlow

I'm so sorry to hear of Stuart's passing. I knew him from Christ Church, and I was always so touched by his faith. I had just spoken with him a week earlier, because he had received his birthday blessing, and I realized that he and I shared the same birthdate. He regaled us with stories of skiing in Europe, and many other adventures from his youth...Sometimes he favored us with spectacular guitar playing...I will miss his presence at church, and my thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Stewart was often found at Christ church for services or pot luck suppers and the Pancake Mardi Gras supper before lent started. He would stop by our house every so often and have stories and jokes. His last communication was two weeks ago in church he handed me his phone number and wanted to have a lobster picnic at my house. I hope they serve lobster in heaven for him or maybe he is serving it with a story. He will be missed by many at Christ church who will be praying for him.

I am sorry to hear of Stuart's passing. It made me think back to a lot of great times we had together back in our high school and college days. I could always count on Stuart to do something which would make me laugh. He will be missed.

I remember Stu way back in grade school and Sunday school at Greenfiled Hill. I don't think there was a nicer, more helpful guy on the planet. My sympathies to his family and all who feel this loss.

Stu brought a smile and enthusiasm to the soccer field. His spirit was inspirational. It has been years since, but I remember him well. Always will.

To the Cunningham Family:
I'm so sorry to hear of Stu's passing. I was always envious of my many friends that had older brothers. Clare, Libby, Laura, Karen, Sue, Betsy...As I recall almost EVERYONE in our neighborhood seemed to have an older brother but me! Luckily, Stuart treated me to the same teasing, etc., that Clare endured. So with the help of Stu, Mark, Lucky, and the rest, I got a good dose of "big brother".
My thoughts and prayers are with you. Clare: Give me a call when you're in town. Please let me know If I can help your Mom out in any way.
Love, Julie
