Obituary of Carl L. Christensen
Rev. Carl L. Christensen, 76, of Lyme passed away peacefully at his home, August 21, 2012 surrounded by his family. Born in New Haven on August 31, 1935, son of the late Lawrence & Elizabeth (Smith) Christensen. Husband of Paula Perlini of Lyme & NYC. Carl was a congregational minister at the Ivoryton Congregational Church for the past five years It had been his first parish after graduation from Yale Divinity School in 1959 and Trinity College in 1957, other parishes he ministered to were the Elmwood Congregational in West Hartford and First Congregational Church in Waterbury. He left the church to create Carl Christensen Assoc. a management consulting firm with such clients as Cadbury- Schwepps, Coca-Cola, The Hartford, Ocean Spray and Proctor & Gamble. He returned to the ministry in 2007 at the Ivoryton Congregational Church where he had started so many years before. In addition to his wife , Carl is survived by his children Karen Cotner of Waterbury, Eric Christensen of Shelton, Wendy Christensen of W. Palm Beach, FL, his grandchildren Eric Cotner, Julie Christensen and Victoria Jelenik, his sister Betty Ann Comstock of Centerbrook and his brother Peder Christensen of Oldsmar, FL He was predeceased by his grandson Corporal Christian Cotner who was killed serving his country in Iraq. A celebration of Carl's life will take place at his beloved Meadow Brook Farm, 69 Beaver Brook Rd., Lyme on Saturday, Sept. 15th at 3pm. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Guiding Eyes for the Blind, 611 Granite Springs Rd., Yorktown Heights, NY 10598.
