Obituary of John M. Bump

John M. Bump Sr. ,85 of Westbrook died on September 8, 2012 at Chestelm Health & Rehab Center in E. Haddam. Beloved husband of Stella (Zaremba) Bump for the last 61 years. John was born in Ivoryton, son of the late Frank & Jennie (Johnson) Bump. He was a proud Navy Veteran of both WWII and Korea, worked as a supervisor at Pratt Read before retiring in 1992,a long time parishioner at St. Mark Church, was a member of the American Legion Post in Westbrook, as well as the VFW and Elks Club. John was also an avid golfer with the Valley Golf League for 20 years, also he loved to polka dance and to garden. In addition to his wife, John is survived by his children, his daughter Mary Ellen Iovieno and her husband John of Higganum and his son John M. Bump Jr. and his wife Ellen of Plymouth, MA , his brothers Frank L. Bump Jr. of Mashpee, MA and Clayton Bump of Wheelock, VT, his grandchildren; Kate Aufiero of Norwalk, Emily Ionieno of Higganum and Britten Bump of Plymouth, MA. John was predeceased by his brother Gerald Bump. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 9:30 -10:30am at Robinson Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main St. Centerbrook. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Mark the Evangelist Church, McVeigh Rd. Westbrook at 11am. Interment with full military honors will be at Centerbrook Cemetery.
