Jack and I shared the Navy, the Corinthians, and H.B.S., so that whenever we bumped into each other we has something to chat about, or complain about. We were never shipmates, but I am sure we would have had a grand time sailing together. Jack was only six years older, so his loss makes me think about setting out for that final sail. I am sure his friends and family know that a fine crew member has gone missing in action.

I am very sorry to hear of Jack Spangler's death. I met Jack, through a mutual friend, at the Norwalk, CT Yacht Club. (This was in 1969.) We found out that we were related through our great grandfather from the Midwest. I had visited my Spangler relatives in Ames, Iowa in 1959, so I knew a little bit about our shared ancestry.

Condolences to Jack's family. We always spoke so loving of you all and Fran. We were members of the Essex Yacht Club. Shared many mutual friends and good times. He was always thoughtful and when my dear companion of 21 years passed away, Jack was there to cheer me on and offer a hand of kindness and friendship. He enriched the lives of all he knew.

I offer my sincere condolences to Jack's family. It was very honestly a pleasure knowing Jack for the past 2.5 years, we enjoyed his presence on the Essex Park and Recreation Commission and his colorful character. Jack and I would banter back and forth in email on various Park & Rec and Town matters and I really enjoyed that.

Half the fun of serving on the 9 Town Transit Board was interacting with Jack. It was no secret that the subject of bus advertising could get him riled to the point of fire and brimstone. His passion and dedication to the board, his love of the Corinthian Jazz Band, and his genuine good nature will be missed by all.

I knew Jack through his service on the board of directors for Nine Town Transit and in my role as area vice president for their management contractor, First Transit. Jack was a dedicated advocate on the board who brought a lifetime of business acumen and public service experience to his position. I know I speak for everyone in the First Transit family, and the employees of Nine Town Transit, in saying we valued the opportunity to work with Jack Spangler and will miss him. Our sincere condolences to all of Jack's family and friends.
