Obituary of Ollie Nance Edwards

Ollie Nance Edwards passed away on Sunday, October 7. She died peacefully at home in Essex, CT. surrounded by her family, just days after she and her husband Garth celebrated a wonderfully happy 73rd wedding anniversary. Ollie was the daughter of Ross Nance and Ollie Richmond of Petersberg, Ill. She married Garth Edwards in September, 1939. They had a long and loving marriage, enjoying their years in Detroit, Washington D.C., Aiken, South Carolina, Manhasset, NY, and especially their many happy years in Kensington, CT. She had a most special love for her beautiful home in Chilmark on Martha's Vineyard, MA. They enjoyed the island for more than 50 years, where life was filled with family, many friends, and joyful days. She leaves her husband, Garth, her children, Nancy Thompson and her husband Hilly, of Dover, MA, Garth N. Edwards and his wife Jenny of Southport, NC, and her 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She will remain in our hearts forever. There will be a celebration of Ollie's life at Essex Meadows, 30 Bokum Road in Essex, CT. on Friday, October 12th at 4:00PM. There will also be a memorial service for her on Martha's Vineyard during the summer of 2013.
