Obituary of Gloria M. Sparaco

Sparaco, Gloria M. Sparaco, age 75 of Westbrook passed away on Sunday afternoon, October 21st at Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven. She was the beloved wife of Ralph F. Sparaco who predeceased her on December 7, 2004. She was born in Middletown on August 31, 1937 the daughter of the late William E. and Olive (Larson) Malcarne. Gloria was raised in Chester and had been a resident of Westbrook since 1962. She loved her family and especially enjoyed being with her grandchildren and being there for all of the many activities they participated in. She was there for of the sporting events, concerts and recitals and was very proud of all of them. Gloria was a big sports fan you enjoyed college basketball, the Boston Red Sox and Pittsburgh Steelers; she also loved to sew, listen to country music and play bocce. Gloria had worked for a period of time in local banks both in Deep River and Chester. She had wintered for over twenty years in Fort Myers, Florida where she made and leaves her many dear friends. Gloria is survived by her children, Steven F. Sparaco and his wife Nancy, of Westbrook, Julie S. Edmondson and her husband Peter of Old Lyme, Janet S. Rogers and her husband Timothy of Westport, her grandchildren, Alexandra and Olivia Borsari, Ben, Emily, Drew, and Jillian Rogers, and Sean, Brett and Amy Sparaco. She also leaves her brother, William Malcarne, of Ivoryton and her sister-in-law, Judith Maynard, of Port Charlotte, Florida. Gloria always felt truly blessed by her special family members, and many friends both in Connecticut and Florida who loved and cared for her. Visitation will be held at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street in Centerbrook on Wednesday, Oct. 24th from 5:00 to 7:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Oct.25th at 1:00PM at Saint Mark the Evangelist Church, 222 McVeigh Road in Westbrook. Burial will follow in the Fountain Hill Cemetery in Deep River. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Westbrook Ambulance Assoc., P.O. Box M, Westbrook, CT 06498.
