Obituary of Edward T. Szymanski

Edward T. Szymanski, 91, of Ivoryton, died peacefully, Saturday evening, November 10, 2012, surrounded by his family. Ed was born in Dickson City, PA, and as a youth he moved to Dalton, PA. He is the son of the late Joseph and Stella (Orzel) Szymanski. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sandra (Johnson) Szymanski; sons, Scott Szymanski and wife Beth (Whitty), and Craig Szymanski and wife Beth (Jameson). He is also survived by his grandchildren Eric, Erin and Nathan; sisters-in-law, Adele and Joan, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers: John, Henry, Stanley, Joseph and Raymond. In his twenties, Ed moved to Connecticut, and worked as a tool and die maker for Scovill Manufacturing, General Time, and Sikorsky Aircraft . He later moved to Centerbrook, and worked for over 25 years at Cramer Manufacturing as an Industrial Engineer. Ed graduated from the University of New Haven. He was an active member and Treasurer of the Essex Republican Town Committee and volunteered as a Little League coach in Essex for many years. Ed was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. A man of few words, he loved a good political debate, had a passion for Civil War history, enjoyed listening to opera, was a train enthusiast, and appreciated a good joke. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 14th, from 5-7 P.M. at Robinson, Wright and Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street, Centerbrook. There will be a Prayer Service at 6:45.
