Mary and I worked together at a boatyard in Essex CT. I am getting this news so very late but wanted you to know how sad I am to hear she is gone. She was an incredible person. Kind, funny and talented. A freshly picked bouquet of flowers and a private piano performance from her was one memory that will remain with me forever. She took me under her 'wing'during my short stay on the east coast. I will never forget the love and kindness she extended to me. What a beautiful spirit!

Ant Mary, (your preferred spelling!)
I am deeply saddened by your passing. Memories of you are flooding my mind; from visiting you at your flat in NYC when Scottie and I were barely 5, 6 years old; to hanging with you at Grandpop & Noni's, in Florida, in the late '70's, while you directed a most amazing impromtu photo shoot in the living room; to visiting you as a "grownup" in Old Lyme, surrounded by all of your truly beautiful creations, and your cats. I have always been blown away by your passion and gift for all things art, including painting, sculpture, theatre, creative writing, dramatic conversation, etc, and if I have 1/100th of your creativity and true artistic skill, then I'm one lucky woman. As it is, I'm lucky that you touched my life as you did. You are, indeed, a very special person and spirit.
I love you and will miss you,
Heather

Hi Denny,
What can I say.I am so sorry. I saw Mary a couple of weeks ago. We visited at Benny's in Deep River until the store closed and they kicked us out. She was at a loss. I'm just grateful I had that time to visit with her. May she be in a better place. I'm thinking of you during this holiday season. Mom and Dad both "passed" in the month of December. It's difficult and I wish you warmth and peace.....Love, Ann

Mary and I started school together in 1956. Through the years I knew her to be one of the most artistic people I had ever met. After many years we saw each other at our 40th reunion. It was as if no time had passed. We both recalled happy times and sad times growing up in Old Saybrook. A very kind soul has been lost. May she be at peace.

Dear Denny~
I was hoping this information about Mary was not true. I am so sadden by this, Mary was a wonderful friend to me and was perhaps one of the most unique persons i had ever met. When we first me, we both were runners and mistaken for sisters. She was so multi-talented but most of all, she was a very kind, caring soul. This is so very upsetting. I had just spoken with her in October, I wished that we had had the lunch we had spoken about getting together for.
This is so very sad.

In the fifth grade, I met Mary. It was 1961 when my family moved to Cottage Place, not far from where Mary lived. We graduated from high school together, so I spent many years enjoying her company. I remember her mom's amazing fried chicken, her love of the piano, her talent as an artist, and her devotion to her father. Over the years, we went our separate ways, but we always remained friends.

I am so sorry or your loss. I worked alongside Mary back in the late '80's in a boatyard in Essex. We never lost touch throughout the years. She was so kind & always a delight to chat with when we'd meet around town.

I met Mary at my Uncle Tom's (Pace)birthday party several years ago. She was a very special person with such a kind spirit, and she, myself and my sister, Janet, seemed to connect instantly. I am truly saddened to hear of her passing.
