Several of us are thinking of Joanne as the 50th anniversary of Mercy High approaches.
Can still hear her great laugh rolling down the hallways there.

I feel truly blessed to have had the privelage of Joanne's friendship. She is one of the most amazing people I have ever known. I am so thankful to have had Joanne as a mentor as I was lucky enough to teach alongside of her. The true life lessons she taught me will be cherished forever...Rest in peace Joanne.

Joanne's daughter and son-in-law have been good friends of ours for many years. We have two sons and our youngest is severely autistic. Because of this we do not receive invitations to parties or events with one exception every year: Mrs Murray's house to watch fire works on the 4th of July. Our youngest son LOVES fireworks, but he has difficulty with social situations and can act in peculiar ways. At Mrs. Murray's we never felt that he made her feel uncomfortable and we never felt judged. The 4th of July will never be the same without her.

My condolences to the Marino and Murray families. I will always remember her dedication to her community and her students and can't help but picture her now in her classroom 'in the sky' surrounded by children.

Ms. Marino was my 4th grade teacher. I was in her 1st class at Theresa Mulvey School. Words can not express the effect she had on my life. As a very insecure and sensitive child she took the time to love, support and make me feel special. She essentally planted a seed in me that has grown in me and I will hold her in my heart always. I was blessed to see her often at the grocery store and catch up and chat. She was very special and my life is better because she was in it. Love to her family and friends. She is now in peace with her husband and parents. God Bless, Kathy Sorensen

Joanne loved to laugh and to share; she loved people, animals, and the ocean; she was creative and funny. My life was made more complete begun by my friendship with her through four years of high school. We reconnected five or six years ago and I sensed immediately that she was the same Joanne I had known nearly forty years ago.
People like Joanne never change their inner selves - they just get better and better as the years go by. I saw Joanne for the last time this past August. I feel extremely fortunate to have been able to do that, to have enjoyed several hours of her company, and to have had the opportunity to say goodbye.
Her passing will create a void within the lives of many of us. To Tony and his wife, to her children, niece, and nephew, to her parents, George, and her many friends - thank you for helping to mold an amazing human being. Joanne, and each of you, are in my prayers.
