Obituary of William J. DeLorenze
On Wednesday, December 19th, Bill passed very peacefully to a better place.
He was born in New Britain, CT to John DeLorenze and Loretta Whitney DeLorenze.
Bill leaves his loving wife Chevi, with whom he shared 25 happy years. Bill leaves a brother John and his wife Kathy in Florida and nieces and a nephew. Bill leaves a daughter in Florida, Donna DeLorenze Alexander and her husband Rick and grandson Matthew. His son Richard and wife Paula of Deep River, granddaughter, Maryann, great-granddaughters, Lauren and Abigale, his son William and granddaughters Danielle, Gabriella and Alexandra. He will be dearly missed by his Old Lyme Family with whom he made his home. Kim Groves and her husband, Bill and his Old Lyme granddaughters Taryn and Raeann Groves, Nina and Jessica Luzzi and son Brandon Luzzi. He attended Plainville High School where he excelled in sports and was inducted into the Plainville High School Athletes Hall of Fame. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1968 retiring as Chief Petty Officer. From 1968 to 1988 Bill worked as Manager of Data Processing for Travelers Insurance Company. Bill touched many lives with his special occasion cakes and world class chocolate chunk cookies which cannot be duplicated. He never missed an Old Lyme soccer game, tennis match, basketball game, chorus concert or play. He will be missed by his many golfing buddies at Fenwick Golf Course, where he golfed daily for many years. We will all miss his great sense of humor, kindness and love of life. A graveside service with the rendering of Military Honors will be held at the State Veterans Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, in Middletown on Wednesday, December 26th at 11:00AM.
