Obituary of Mary Robbin Reynolds Hawkins
It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Robbin Reynolds --- also known as Mary Robbin Reynolds Hawkins. Born and raised in Chappaqua, NY, and a graduate of St. Margaret's School in Waterbury, CT, and the University of Pennsylvania, Robbin spent her professional life making a difference in the lives of those with whom she worked and lived. She worked at Citibank in New York; she served as a real estate broker; she guided writers as a literary agent and editor; and for several years before her retirement, she was the Chief Operating Officer of Workman Publishing Company in New York City. Known by friends and colleagues as a person of uncommon courage and character, Robbin was also considered to be a visionary pioneer in the work place. Organizations to which she devoted herself benefited from her ability to blend a no-nonsense approach to decision-making with an unwavering commitment to and compassion for those working alongside her. She was a remarkable mentor, a lovely friend, and a wonderful pillar of strength - often simultaneously. Those who knew Robbin well feel extraordinarily lucky to have enjoyed their time with her here, and mitigating their great sorrow is the fact that she passed away on her own terms. Robbin passed away early in the morning of December 19 under the care of Middlesex Hospice. A celebration of her life will be held at the Old Lyme Congregational Church in Old Lyme, CT, at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 12. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to Essex Meadows Scholarship Fund or the Middlesex Hospice. Arrangements by the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home in Centerbrook.
