Obituary of Barbara Butler

Barbara Surgenor Butler passed away on Feb. 28, 2013 after losing her 10 year battle with many illnesses ending up with Dementia. A private burial service was held in Guildford. In addition to her husband Robert, she leaves her sister Janet S. Hill, her sons David E. Butler, Peter J. Butler, and Douglas P. Butler and his wife Bonnie Butler, RN. She also leaves her grandsons Matthew J. Butler and Gregory P. Butler. Barbara was predeceased by James Surgenor, MD, Ruth Surgenor and Donald Surgenor. After graduating from Hall High School, she attended Central Connecticut College and later became a department manager at Lord and Taylor in West Hartford. Our family is especially grateful for the warm, loving care given by Bonnie Butler, RN, The staff at Aaron Manor in Chester, and the hospice people from Middlesex Hospital. Barbara's first love was her family. She loved to work in her gardens. She loved the beaches on Cape Cod and Watch Hill. She loved the many boat rides with her family. She loved to travel and of course, she always had a special place in her heart for her cat, Mr. Kitty. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675 or the Alzheimer Association, P.O. Box 96011 Washington, DC 20090-6011. A Memorial Service will be held on March 16, 2013 at 11:00am at the Farmington Ave. Baptist Church in West Hartford.
