Obituary of Alphee J. Poitras

Alphee J. "Frenchy" Poitras, 68, of Ivoryton died on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Middlesex Hospital. Beloved husband of Rena M. (Voisine) Poitras Born in Grand Falls, New Brunswick, Canada, son of the late Marc & Rita (Lagasse) Poitras. Alphee emigrated to the U.S. in 1964. He was a proud Army veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, he worked as a machinist for over 40 years at Essex Machine Works until his retirement, he was a member of the Niantic Sportsman Club and a Ivoryton resident for the past 36 years. Devoted father of Capt. Matt Poitras of Rocky Hill , Richard F Poitras of Ivoryton. and Alex J. Poitras of Ivoryton. Dear brother of Ginette Davis of Niantic, Diane Poitras of Westbrook, Mona Premo of Pawcatuck and Jackie Clift of Pawcatuck. Loving grandfather of Raven Poitras and Quinn Carey. Alphee will also be missed by his devoted dogs; Zoro, Barbette and Roxie. Visitation Tuesday from 5-7pm at Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main St. Centerbrook. Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, 10:30am at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Essex. Interment with full military honors will follow at the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown.
