Obituary of Theresa Vitali Stopa

Theresa (Vitali) Stopa, 88 of Centerbrook passed away on April 1, 2013 at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown. She was the beloved wife of the late William J. Stopa. Theresa was born in Derby the daughter of Amato and Theresa (Battistelli) Vitali and was raised in Ivoryton and was a graduate of Pratt High School in 1943. Theresa and William were married in 1956 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Essex and made their home in Centerbrook, William passed away in 1978. She was employed for over twelve years at the Pratt- Read Company in Ivoryton. Theresa was a life-long communicant at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. .She leaves her devoted niece, Anna M. Pollock of Deep River and several other nieces and nephews, and her sister in laws, Mary (Frannie) Stopa and Catherine Budney, both of Deep River. Theresa was predeceased by her siblings Gino, Josephine, Rose, Phil, Lucy, Lawrence, Peter, Assunta, Josephine, Beatrice, Irene and her sisters-in-law Sophie and Genieva (Jean) and brother-in-law Victor. Visitation will from 5-7pm today at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street in Centerbrook. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 3rd at 10:30AM at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 14 Prospect Street in Essex, interment will follow in the Resurrection Cemetery in Westbrook.
