Obituary of Ann Pross Gates
Ann Pross Gates, age 72, a resident of Ivoryton and Essex for over 50 years passed away peacefully on Monday morning, May 20th at The Connecticut Hospice in Branford surrounded by her loving family. Ann was born in Hyde Park, New York on February 14, 1941 the daughter of Alfred Emil and Elizabeth (Rozelle) Pross. She graduated from Nathan Hale Ray High School in East Haddam as a member of the Class of 1959. Ann worked for many years as the Office Manager at the E.E. Dickinson Company in Essex and at age 54 courageously entered nursing school to begin a new career. Most recently Ann was a Licensed Practical Nurse at the Riverview Hospital for Children and Youth in-Middletown prior to her retirement. Ann loved the sunny outdoors and enjoyed camping and the beach. She was musically talented, playing the piano and organ. She enjoyed her creative side and loved her cats. Ann cherished the time and laughter with family, friends and neighbors. Ann is survived by her Daughters, Tamara Gates and Son in law Michael Schreier, of Los Angeles, CA, Amanda Boffi and Son in law Frank Boffi, of Florida, Shelly Urban, of Ivoryton, and her Son, Glenn Charles Gates, of Florida. She leaves her beloved grandchildren, Daniel, Hailey and Riley Schreier, Danielle Boffi, Carly Urban, and Nathan Gates. Ann is also survived by her Sisters, Judy Boehlert and Brother in law, Geoffrey Boehlert, of Vermont, Gail Piasik of Connecticut, and her Nieces and Nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 24th from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street in Centerbrook. A graveside service will be conducted on Saturday, May 25th in the Riverview Cemetery, North Main Street in Essex at 10:00AM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Ann's name to The Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06404.
