Obituary of Enid Ione Jobson
Enid Ione Jobson, 90, of Essex, passed away after a brief illness on July 25th at the Apple Rehabilitation Center in Old Saybrook. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert Fenn Jobson. Enid was born on November 21, 1922 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin to the late Edgar R. and Leona A. (Jackimsen) Beyer. Mrs. Jobson attended the University of Illinois where she met her husband. They married in May of 1941 and initially lived throughout the United States. They settled in Larchmont, New York. Enid was active with the Garden Club but her biggest enjoyment was racing sailboats with her husband and children at the Larchmont Yacht Club. She and "Bud" retired to Essex, Connecticut in 1970. They swapped racing for cruising and continued to enjoy sailing until Bud's death in 1981. Enid was very involved with Alcoholics Anonymous and developed many friendships through the program. She was a sponsor to many people. In later years, she enjoyed watching sailboat racing at Dry Pants Model Sailboat Club. Enid always enjoyed having her family and friends at her home. She was an excellent baker ("never a boxed cake"). She leaves behind her son, Brian Fenn Jobson and his wife Susan, of Wolcott, CT. Three grandchildren: Erin (Jobson) Rechler and her husband Harold, of Huntington, New York; Lindsay (Poindexter) Rizza and her husband, Jordan, of Killingworth, CT; Eric Jobson and his wife, Margaret, of Prospect, CT; her son-in-law, Charles Poindexter and his companion, Annie Edwards, of Madison, CT and two great grandchildren. Besides her husband she was predeceased by her daughter, Jillian (Jobson) Poindexter. Enid's family would like to thank Dr. Serle Epstein, M.D. for his excellent care and the entire staff at the Apple Rehabilitation Center in Old Saybrook for their compassion and support. A memorial celebration will be held on Wednesday, July 31st at 11:00AM at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street in Centerbrook. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Essex Library, 33 West Ave., Essex, CT 06426.
