Obituary of John Sherburne Bellows

John Sherburne Bellows of Chester, affectionately known as "Moose" died suddenly July 29, 2013. He was 63. John was a stone mason and created beautiful stone walls and patios for his clients in the lower Ct. river valley since starting his own business in 1986. He was an avid gardener, photographer and outdoorsman. He had a life long passion for fly fishing and was an outstanding fly tier. He was a past President of the Housatonic Fly Fisherman's Association, President of the North Eastern Council of the Federation of Fly Fisherman and for many years was on the National Board where he held the title of Vice President of Membership. He was a past President of the Chester Land Trust and a founding member of the Chester Cigar Club. He was also an avid Yankees, Giants and UConn Huskies fan. Before his death, John enjoyed several years of retirement. He traveled the country fishing and photographing the beauty of its National Parks. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Jeanne -Marie Bellows of Chester, CT, his younger brother and his wife, Henry and Claudia Bellows, his nephew Benjamin and niece Daniela all of Chester, CT. John was predeceased by his younger brother Benjamin Bellows. He will be fondly remembered by his multitude of friends in the US and internationally for his devotion to fly fishing, his fun loving personality and the quality of the friendships he made and maintained. A memorial service will be held at the Chester Meeting House on Sunday, August 11 at 1 pm. Donations in John's memory may be made to the Chester Land Trust, P.O. Box 82 Chester, CT.
