Walt's neighbors, Ken & Bonnie Doyle are very sorry to hear of his passing. Every time he drove past our home, he'd stop to talk. We enjoyed his stories and listening to his opinions of world affairs.
Ken and Walt went on a couple of "road trips" to New Britain for Polish food. Both enjoyed it!
He was a crotchety old sweetie and will be missed!

I know Walter since the 1st grade. We grew up through all the grades together. Our families were very close and for many years we worked at L.C. Doane and we would always talk together. He was a good guy that will be missed. With deepest sympathy to the family.
Frances Lane grew up in Deep River, lived in Old Saybrook and now resides in Chester

I am very sorry for your loss. I've known Walter for about 7 years through the meals on wheels program. I always enjoyed spending time with him and we always had lively discussions about UCONN basketball, Duke basketball, his time in the military and politics. Walter was especially nice to my grandkids when I brought them with me. He will truly be missed.

It's a sad day to wake and find that Walter is gone from us. His generous heart and ready wit made it a joy to be with him right to the last days of Red Sox watching in the VA. From the moment I met him 22 years ago, it was clear that he was a kind of hero you hope to meet in your lifetime. From what he had done and seen, to still be able to care for hollyhocks and fruit trees was an inspiration. From gardens to friends, the more I paid attention to what he quietly said, the better things turned out. My sympathy goes out to all who knew him and feel this sad loss.

15 years ago we moved to Clinton and Ren met Walt at the town dock. They quickly became good friends, playing cribbage together 4 and 5 times a week. Even playing in the morning with the group did not keep them from playing again in the afternoon.
Walt quickly became a part of our family and after much coaxing eventually joined in our family celebrations. There was no one who came to our home that did not know Walt.
So we bid you adieu our friend and hope that you remembered to bring cards, Ren is waiting with his cribbage board.
Much love, Godspeed,
The Rancourts

Our sincere synpathy to the Czapiga family, expecially Janet and Chuck. We have known Porky for many years, going way back to when he first was "courting" Midge. He was quite a remarkable guy, and will be missed by his family and many friends.

It was a pleasure to have met Walt. He was one of my father's first friends Dad made when he moved to Clinton. They really enjoyed playing cribbage. Both of them thought the other was cheating because they both thought they lost more than they won.
It was an honor to have known him. Rest in Peace.

I had the privilege to meet "Porky" (as he was kindly referred to here at The LC Doane Company) about six years ago when I joined the company and we had our annual holiday party. He had a larger than life personality and made me LAUGH! I was blessed to see him several times a year at various company gatherings. My heart sank when I heard of his passing, he will be missed. A wonderful man with a contagious smile! My deepest sympathies go out to his family and all who were lucky enough to have known him!
