To the family of Mr. Tavernier -- Your father/grandfather/great grandfather was my violin teacher. I don't know why I wanted to play the violin but I did. There was no orchestra in the school system. I started lessons with him when I was in the 3rd grade. I'm 53 now. I wanted to share my memories of him with you. I remember going up to the bedroom on the second floor for my lessons and his wife greeting me at the door every week. I learned and I practiced and Mr. Taverier eventually ended up playing 2nd violin to this little girl in our lessons so he could push me to be better. He was a great violinst. Eventually as I got older and wanted to pursue girly teenage things such as cheerleading and boys I didn't want to spend the time practicing anymore. My mother told me I would have to tell Mr. Taverier. I didn't want to because he would be disappointed in me. He was disappointed because he told me I was very good, but gracious, as always. I missed him after that and thought about him during my entire life. I still have that violin. I think if him everytime I see it. I will place his obituary in its case. I regret not continuing with the violin and I have it in my mind that someday I will take it up again. But, he will always be my violin teacher - no one else. He was a wonderful and memorable man, and will be missed.

I spent many nights at the Tavernier's home and remember hearing Mr. T play his violine or give a lesson. He was always so kind to me I will never forget you Harry.

I have very fond memories of growing up next to the Taverniers! Charlotte and I had so many adventures - driving to Cedar Lake in the trunk of Pepe's old black car! washing Jacques (the dog)in the bathtub and forgetting to NOT let him run around the house! Singing songs at the top of our lungs with a microphone in the living room! Listening to the 'party line'! I will always remember Mr. Taverniers smile with his crinkly eyes - just like Charlottes. My sincere sympathy...

Sending my warmest thoughts to your family. I remember the many lovely stories Nancy would tell me about Sunday dinners and I remember him playing the violin at Nancy's memorial. What a life he must have lived. You are in my thoughts always, I am so sorry for your loss.
