Obituary of Robert M. Hall

Robert M. Hall, 59, of Chester passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 after a long illness. He was born in Middletown, CT on July 24, 1954; the eldest son of the late Robert Hall and Shirley (Lyons) McCormick. He was a graduate of Valley Regional High School and later served his country for three years in the United States Army. It was his time served in the Army that gave Bob his strong political views and his commitment to the privilege of voting. Bob worked for a number of people in Chester, mostly weeding their gardens, pruning shrubs, maintaining their lawns and shoveling walks. He loved to be outdoors and appreciated nature's wonders. Although he never had a driver's license, he thought nothing of walking to Old Saybrook and back or to Deep River to cash in the bottles and cans he would collect along the way. Bob was a collector of action-figured heroes and the comic books to match. He would "light up" when he saw his heroes come to life on the big screen at the movie theatre. He was also an avid dog lover. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother, Gene Hall. Bob is survived by his sister, Barbara May of Middletown and two nephews. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Chesterfield Health Care and Eagle Landing for their care and support shown to Bob while he was in their care. A graveside service with military honors took place at the Veteran's Cemetery in Middletown on Friday, November 8, 2013. Memorial donations may be made to the Valley Shore Animal Welfare League, 647 Horse Hill Road, Westbrook, CT 06498 or to the Chester Food Pantry, 203 Middlesex Avenue, Chester 06412. Arrangements by Robinson, Wright, and Weymer Funeral Home. To share a memory of Bob or send a condolence, please visit rwwfh.
