Elizabeth and Ashley,
I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. Unfortunately, I know what you are going through. Our dads went to college together and although I haven't met you guys, I just wanted to let you know I'm thinking about you. My dad passed away 10 years ago and it sucks. I just hope your dad and my dad are up to the shenanigans I've heard so much about. Take care

To the Barteks,
I consider myself lucky that I got the chance to become such good friends with you, Ashley and Liz, not only because you are such amazing people but also because I got to meet your parents. They are always happy to invite your friends to join them at the Elk's club for summer days of fun and relaxtion at the beach, welcoming new and old friends with open arms. I can see where both of you got your spunk from...your parents, especially your dad with his jokester ways. I think I rarely saw him without a smile on his face or laughing about something.
Patty, Liz and Ash, I'm so sorry for all of your loss, my love and prayers are with you today and always.

Patty, Elisabeth and Ashley,
I am struck with news and saddened to hear of John's passing. My fondest memories are of long nights of playing cards around the Bartek kitchen table drinking wine, eating terrific dishes made by Patty with good friends and countless acts of silliness. John's kindness and sense of humor are paralleled only by his (in) ability to juggle assorted fruits in the living room. These are are strong and deeply cherished memories of mine I am proud to repeat. I am honored to have shared time with him. We can rest in the notion my dear friend John, may be free of "irresponsible" dog duty. Unless there is truth "dog" is truly a palindrome. Then he will have to share his space with Shawhalehead and the rest.
My heart is with you all in this difficult time. Please know you may call on me if I can be of service.
Sincerely,
Jim Wallis

Patty, Elizabeth, Ashley and Adam,
It seems each year at this time, God calls some of His favorites home to attend His birthday party. John was one of His special people. Patty, there are no words to describe how I feel or what I want to say. Just know I pray for you and the family that you can find justification in this tragedy. Love to you all.

I remember when he came to Logectis I liked John very much, he was a hard worker with ambition. He might have yelled a lot but we knew he had a big heart when his wife would make huge platters of brownies. You will be missed Rest in Peace. Work won't be the same. My condolences to the family.

My heart goes to the Bartek family. John and I spent many summer days at West Beach sailing, boating, waterskiing, playing pinball at Coral Sands, playing monopoly on rainy days and going to Luigi's for lunch in Mrs. D'Quila's white Cadillac convertible. They were times I will never forget. Goodbye Johnny.

Patty, So very sorry to hear of John's passing. My heart is broken....I've known John since kindergarten and through all those years when we had to be home when the street lights went on, there was always a Bartek to walk me to my corner. On Wednesday nights when we had Mrs Fishbien's dance classes, John was always there to be my partner. I will hold those memories closer now. After being away from CT. for fifteen years, to come here and meet John and Patty and then Elizabeth and Ashley it was like we had never left. To reconnect with an old friend is a wonderful thing. I will miss your smile at the Elks after buying those pull tabs and hiding your winners. Love Linda

Spending my summers at West Beach with John's(Johnny)
brother Steve, I can attest that being with any of the Bartek's was an adventure. Whether it was watching them build a hydroplanes, or skis to perform acrobatic feats, or just exploring the local islands on their wood hull Lyman, made the summers fly by. The loss of Steve brings back these wonder memories of more innocent times shared with this dynamic family.

To the Barteks, I grew up with you guys.. So many great memories were made right in your home. My favorite being the time I was using your upstairs bathroom- it was summertime and the window was open. All of a sudden my legs got all wet. I went to the window to see what was up, and there was Johnny boy giggling outside holding the garden hose. He was such a prankster, and I will miss him very much. His legacy no doubt will live on in his family , and his goofiness in Ash, who (like me) is so much like her dad. You guys are in my heart

I worked with John for many years at Logistec, New London, CT. John was someone who I could always count on to help me with whatever I needed. He was not just a co-worker but my friend. I will always remember him coming into the office when they were discharging a ship and John would tell me to get a hard hat and safety vests and come and help. I would just laugh but he would always say it. He would tell me stories when he was a Merchant Marine and he was such an interesting guy. He always talked about his wife and daughters with so much love. I am very sorry for your lost. He was a great man.
