Obituary of Frank B. Barbaresi
Frank B. Barbaresi, age 89, a life long resident of Ivoryton passed away on Friday evening January 31, 2014 at the Chesterfields Health Care Center in Chester. He was the beloved husband of the late Frances Marie (Folger) Barbaresi who predeceased him in 1989. Born in Ivoryton on February 1, 1924, he was the son of Frank and Cesira (Brunaccioni) Barbaresi. Frank proudly served his country during World War II in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater and at the Liberation of the Philippines as a member of the United States Navy. He had worked in construction prior to 1963 when he began his career at General Dynamics, Electric Boat Company in Groton. He was a pipe fitter and retired after 26 years of service. Frank was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed deer hunting, trapping and salt water fishing. He was very knowledgeable of local wildlife and enjoyed learning about nature. Frank will be remembered as being a devoted husband and father and will be greatly missed. He leaves his three sons, Michael S. and his wife Lori of Salem, Russell L. and his wife Terry of New Market, NH, Frank E. of Ivoryton, his daughter, Jean M. Tracz and her husband Ted of Norwich, his son-in-law, James Harrington, of Florida, 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and his sister, Mary Arrigoni, of Higganum. Besides his wife, Frank was predeceased by his daughter, Diane E. Harrington and his sisters, Susie Griffith, Rosaline Trabucci and Josephine Winschel. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 5th from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street in Centerbrook. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Feb. 6th at 10:30AM at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 14 Prospect Street in Essex. Burial will follow with the rendering of Military Honors in the Resurrection Cemetery in Westbrook. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Frank's name may be made to the Veterans Honor Guard, 6 George Street, Old Saybrook, CT 06475.
