Obituary of William Owen LaPlace

William Owen LaPlace, age 72, of Centerbrook passed away on Friday evening, January 31, 2014 at Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven. He was the beloved husband of Peggy (Joseph) LaPlace for 45 wonderful years. He was born in Olympia,Washington the son of William B. and Jennette (Owen) LaPlace. Owen proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1964 to 1966 as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division. Following his service to his country he was an expeditor at the Sargent Lock Company in New Haven. As a longtime resident of Deep River, for over forty years he managed the Fountain Hill Cemetery and Crematory. He was the owner of the Lower Valley Monument Company in Deep River and for the past sixteen years he was a Rural Route Letter Carrier for the United States Postal Service in Deep River. Owen also delivered the Hartford Courant for fifteen years. He was a member of the Estuary Lodge #43 AF&AM in Deep River. Besides his wife Peggy, Owen leaves his son, Daniel and his wife Heather LaPlace of Chester, his daughter, Dawn Quintavalle, of Madrid, New York, grandchildren, Hunter and Dylan LaPlace and Hailey and Dominic Quintavalle, his brother, Simon and his wife Deborah LaPlace, of Deep River and their son Julian, and his sister, Gayle Czerlonek, of Bronx, New York. Funeral services were privately held with the rendering of Military Honors at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home in Centerbrook.
