I really enjoyed working for Marios prestressed concrete co, as he always treated his employees well & with respect.
My only regret was not making my career there.
There should be MORE CEOs like him, as he raised the bar.
He will be missed.

Dear Mrs. Bertolini: I read your husband's obit in the local newspaper recently and was struck by similarities in our lives. I was born at Grace New Haven Hospital on December 28, 1934, one day after your husband (maybe we were in the same birthing room). I attended Guilford High School and took up Civil Engineering at Princeton, graduating in 1956. I remember my prestressed concrete classes very well.
I, too, am a lover of nature (we live on a 200 acre Audubon Preserve in Guilford) and am an avid fly fisherman. My wife has me playing a lot of bridge. We are active members of the Congregational Church (UCC) in North Madison. Anyway, there seem to be many likenesses in our lives.
My deepest condolences to you and your entire family on your loss.
With Best Regards,
Scott Conover

Peter, Mary and the Bertolini Family - Hired by Blakeslee in 1982, I was fortunate to work with your Dad for many years. He set the standard by which I measured every succeeding executive or boss. None have ever commanded, or earned more of my respect, than did Mario.
Mario was demanding, but never mean. We were all proud to say we worked for him. When I remember Mario, his massive hands come to mind, and how they were dwarfed only by the size of his smile.
Once I used you Dad as a character reference for a job. During the interview as I sat there, they placed a call to Mario. The call concluded with, "if he's good enough for you..." Mario had okay'd me and I got the job. That is the kind of respect he earned, and received. We are all the better for having known him.

I have known and worked with Mario since 1977. He is a man that, in my opinion, took the building trade to a new high level that I had never seen before with previous contractors. He worked with people in whom he instilled his sense of pride in product and work ethic. He was a gentleman, and a guy who could quote chapter and verse about autos in particular and equipment in general. He will be sorely missed.

Maryjane & Family,
I have many fond memories of all the times we have spent together. Africa was probably the BEST. How Mario didn't really want to go on safari, but once there he was always the first one up and ready to travel. He thought seeing all the animals was great and he was more excited than anyone.
You are all in my prayers at this sad time, it is hard to say good-bye to someone special. Love Betsy
