Obituary of Carolyn Zanardi

Carolyn (Woodhouse) Zanardi, 85, died peacefully February 12, 2014 at Middlesex Hospital after a brief illness. Carolyn was born in Manchester September 12, 1928, the daughter of Fred and Ida (Bronke) Woodhouse. Carolyn, Con, Ma, or Connie as most knew her grew up in Manchester and graduated from Manchester High School before attending nursing school at the Ona Wilcox School of Nursing where she obtained her nursing degree. She worked as a nurse for a short time before starting her family, becoming a full time wife and mother. Connie enjoyed traveling, knitting, reading, and going to the opera, but above all enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a member of the United Church of Chester for many years, a Chester resident since 1951, and a Hospice volunteer. Connie will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Connie is survived by her loving children, Steven A. Zanardi and wife Victoria of New Haven and Carol A. Drag and husband Thomas of Essex; grandchildren, Timothy and Ashley Carlson and Christopher and Keith Zanardi; a special brother Richard Woodhouse and wife Beverly of Westport, as well as several nieces, nephews, and close friends. Connie was predeceased by her husband Arthur "Bud" W. Zanardi, her twin brother, Carlton, and her sister Eleanor Burgess. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 AM, Saturday, February 15, 2014 at the United Church of Chester, 29 West Main Street, Chester, with the Rev. Kathleen O. Peters officiating. Interment will be private beside her husband at Fountain Hill Cemetery, Deep River. Memorial contributions in Connie's honor may be made to the United Church of Chester, P.O.
