Obituary of Richard Albert Otka

Richard Albert Otka, 66, of Chester, died Sept. 18, 2018, at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. He was the husband of Merrianne Hunt Otka, his high school sweetheart, to whom he had been married for 40 years. Born Oct. 18, 1951, he was the son of the late Nancy S. and Albert William Otka. He graduated from Guilford High School and attended Porter-Chester Institute. He was a master carpenter whose craftsmanship can be found all along the shoreline, as well as many other places. He was a devoted aficionado of Harley Davidson motorcycles and, with Merrianne, traveled to tour all over the country. Besides his wife, he

is survived by his children, Marya Allegra Neary and her husband, Jeffrey, of Brookfield;

Paul Joshua Otka and his wife, Gabriela of Sydney, Australia; and Jessica Otka of Norwich, as well as grandchildren Shaun and Annabelle Neary, and Cassie Ahrens. He is also survived by his sisters, Sally E. Bahner of Branford and Laura Stewart of Newington.

 Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, September 22, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Robinson, Wright, and Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main St., Centerbrook. Interment will be private.
