Obituary of Julia Ann McPherson

Julia Ann McPherson, age 102, passed away on September 24, 2018 at her home in Winthrop, CT.  She was predeceased by her husband Frederick C. McPherson of 75 years, father Frederick Schulz, mother Julia Sweeney, and brother, Fred Schultz. Julia was born in New York City on February 22, 1916 and at the age of 3 moved with her family to the Winthrop section of Deep River, CT where she has lived on Cedar Swamp Road for the last 99 years. Some of her fondest memories were traveling to and from school in the mule drawn school bus and walking through the woods with her mother every Sunday to attend mass at St. Joseph’s Church in Chester, CT. During her lifetime she worked on the family farm, Verplex Lampshade Company and Whelen Engineering. She loved traveling to Vermont, especially in the fall, and until she was 100 tended her large garden every summer. Julia is survived by her son Patrick (Judy), of Westbrook, CT, four grandchildren, Dawn Kizimir of Montgomery, NY, Patrick Jr. (Theresa) of Ivoryton, CT,  Matthew ( Gina) of Fulsher, TX, Kelly Morrell (Michael)  Montgomery, TX and 8 great grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Friday, September 28, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00PM at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home in Centerbrook. A chapel service will be held at the Funeral Home on Saturday, September 29^th at 11:00AM. Burial will follow at Winthrop Cemetery.
