Obituary of Carmen Elizabeth Baldi

Carmen Elizabeth Baldi, age 85, beloved wife of the late Thomas Baldi, passed away early morning on Sunday, February 24th with her loving family by her side.  Carmen, a life-long resident of Old Saybrook was born in New Britain, CT on May 11th, 1933 to Nello and Olga Quercioli.  Carmen leaves behind her loving children, Mike and Sharon who made it possible for her to live in the brick house her husband built.  She also leaves behind her loving daughter-in-law Lynn Ann of Chester, a sister Gloria Janik and her husband Edward of Kensington, a sister-in-law Gigi Baldi of Old Saybrook, many nieces and nephews and six grandcats. Carmen began her career as a secretary at Stanley Works. She was a faithful communicant of Saint John Church of Old Saybrook for many years, serving as a eucharistic minister, choir singer, floral arranger and fundraiser.  For many years Carmen was a member of the Joyful Sound to the Lord choir.  She spent a lifetime of giving and never thought twice about helping when anyone or organization was in need.  She was a Chaplain and lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary.  Her passions were birthright, area soup kitchens, and animal welfare leagues. Later in life, despite being homebound, she always managed to stay active in her community.  She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, endless compassion for others and devotion to her faith. A visitation will be held on Friday, March 1st from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street, in Centerbrook.
