Dear Miller Family,
I was the employment manager at Oakland University who signed Alan's letter of offer back in the 1980s. I very much enjoyed knowing him. An excellent leader, a man of integrity, and a very good colleague. Please accept my condolences and my memory of a life well-lived.
Sincerely,
David C. Strubler, Ph.D.

I enjoyed working with Alan when I was at OU. What I learned from that relationship helped me establish good working relationships with physical plant services when I took a position in the provost's office at the University of Florida.

From Barcelona we send our sincere condolences to the Gonzalez de Miller family. Alan was a very hospitable person with me when I was in Essex almost 20 years ago and since then we had a very good personal connection from the distance between USA and Spain. Since childhood Clara Gonzalez has been and is a great family friendship, specially with our mother.
Our most sincere condolences to the familly from Barcelona.

Aunt Clara, Montserrat, Uncle Stan, and Mom,
Although I didn't know Uncle Alan well because of distance, I wanted to extend my sincere condolences and prayers to you for your loss. I have always admired him for his service to our country and for being a wonderful father and husband. Being a cancer survivor myself, I know the discomfort and pain he experienced. He's in a better place and is no longer in discomfort. I pray you find solace in your many wonderland, happy memories of him. I am very proud to have been able to spend the time I did spend with him and your family. Time and prayers can heal all. He, along with my dad, Timothy, Aunt Joann, Uncle John, and other family members we have lost are smiling down on us every day.

Prayers for sympathy and God's healing grace, Clara. I worked with Alan for a few years at Campus Facilities at Oakland University, and prior to that worked in the payroll office. Alan and I got on remarkably well, considering that I had Margie's big shoes to fill! He was always a great boss, and I enjoyed working with him. And Joe and I still recall our visit with you both in Essex, where we heard of your pilgrimage, and met Timothy and his daughter. You will be in my thoughts and prayers in the coming days.

Please accept my condolences for the passing of Alan. There is hope though, as the Almighty has arranged for the resurrection in the future. He promises, "... There is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous." (Acts 24:15)
I hope you find these few words comforting and provide motivation to prepare for the new world of God's making. (John 17:3)
