Obituary of Patricia Ann Palau

Patricia Ann Palau, 85, of Centerbrook passed away at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in New London on Wednesday, June 19^th, 2019. She was born in Middletown on February 14, 1934, the daughter of Louis and Florence Olivia (Ahlstrin) Palau. Patricia A. Palau is survived by her three siblings, Elizabeth (Nean) and her husband Carl Tirone, Eleanor (Sis) and her husband Fredrick II Jacobs and her favorite brother Charles E. Palau, who always made her laugh. Although Pat had no children of her own, she sure loved spending time with her many nieces and nephews, Chuck, Bob, Betty, Mark, Susan, Cathy, Fred III, Rebecca and Valerie. There are many fond memories at the Pat’s home in Centerbrook, the toy box full of surprises, trains that ran by the house twice a day to wave at.  She enjoyed making dresses for the girls and taking them to grandma’s house for delicious blueberry pies and going to the Durham fair every summer. She always remembered each and every niece and nephew (now including grand nieces and nephews) up to their 25th Birthday with a surprise in their Christmas card. Pat was happy to hear this year of a great grandniece to add to her list. Pat never needed a calculator to help her with any math equation and as far as computers were concerned, using your brain was a far better machine. On any beautiful New England day, you could find Pat out in the garden tending to her f1ower and vegetable garden, purple Iris being one of her favorite f1owers.  She enjoyed Knitting and one year everyone received a beautiful handmade knitted sweater.  The highlight of the year was the family gathering at “The Parade House” where Pat got to spend time with everyone in her family, young and old gather for the Muster in Deep River there was always food a plenty and everyone was welcome. A graveside service will be held on June 26th at 11:00AM at Riverview Cemetery, North Main Street, in Essex. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Pat's name to The Patricia Ann Palau Award for Excellence in Mathematics, c/o Essex Savings Bank, PO.
