Obituary of Ruth "Ruthie" Jane Machold

Ruth Jane Machold (Ruthie), 73, of Deep River, passed away unexpectedly, on January 22, 2020 surrounded by loved ones. Ruthie was born in Middletown to the late Frederick (Fritz) Machold and Mae (Griswold) Machold on March 21, 1946. Ruthie is survived by her brother Martin Machold and wife Bette, nephew John Machold and wife Donna, niece Beth (Machold) Mesite and husband David, niece Cynthia Tedford, nephew Scott Machold and wife Jaime, great nieces Lindsay (Mesite) Devona, Danielle Machold, Jennifer Mesite, great nephew Zach Machold and grand-niece Vivianne Devona. Ruthie was nicknamed the Mayor of Deep River and was loved by everyone. She loved the UConn Women’s Basketball team and the Dallas Cowboys. She was a member of the Deep River Congregational Church and a teacher in the church’s nursery for many years. The town of Deep River, Deep River Congregational Church and Kirtland Commons will not be the same. To know Ruthie was to love Ruthie. A celebration of life will be held at Deep River Congregational Church on February 9th at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to either the Deep River Congregational Church or Kirtland Commons.
