Obituary of Stanley F. Grief

Stanley F. Grief, Sr., age 95, of Westbrook and a former longtime resident of Ivoryton, Deep River and Clinton passed away on Monday, January 12, 2015 at the Middlesex Hospital in Middletown. Stanley was the beloved husband of the late Clara (Brown) Grief who predeceased him in 2000. Stanley was born in Deep River on January 28, 1919 the son of Joseph and Veronica Grezch. Stanley was a proud veteran of the United States Army having served his country during World War II in Central Europe. He was a Supervisor at Turbo Products in Ivoryton. His manufacturing career at Turbo Products began in 1958 and he retired in 1981. Stanley was a communicant at Saint Joseph's Church in Chester. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Stanley enjoyed belt and jewelry design and manufacturing in his retirement. He was a member of the Essex Sportsman Club. He leaves his daughter, Stella G. Vicamini and her husband Paul of Westbrook, his son, Stanley F. Grief, Jr. and his wife Janet, his brother, Frank Grief, of Old Saybrook, his son-in-law Richard Carlson, of Newark, IL., his sister-in-law, June Brown, of Westbrook, his four grandchildren, Peter Grief, of Winthrop, Kevin Grief, of Deep River, Brian and Daniel Carlson, both of Illinois, and his three great-grandchildren. Besides his beloved wife Clara he was predeceased by his daughter, Anna May Carlson, his brother, John Grief, and his sister-in laws, Emma and Gladys Grief. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January, 16, 2015 at 10:30AM at Saint Joseph's Church, 48 Middlesex Avenue in Chester. Interment with the Rendering of Full Military Honors will follow in the Resurrection Cemetery, Route 145 in Westbrook. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Stanley's name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Connecticut Chapter, 2075 Silas Deane Highway, Rocky Hill, CT 06067 or to the American Diabetes Association, Connecticut Chapter, 2080 Silas Deane Highway, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
