Dear Reggie and Mitch, and Family,
Bob and I are so saddened to hear about your loss of Alex. Our family has such wonderful memories of the years we vacationed together with the Siltons at the Big House on Wings Neck. Dear Regina: I do not know you or your family but I had to write because our grief is a shared one. We buried our son months ago from an overdose, although he was not as young as your son. He was our only child and. to this day, it remains a devasting "senseless" loss. The only outlet that has given me any real comfort is the support group Compassionate Friends in Middletown which meets once a month on the second Tues. at 6:30pm right across from the hospital entrance in a brick building conference room. It is for people who have lost children and I was "blown away" that many of them were there because of this opiate epidemic. I have been extremely selective of telling anyone exactly how my son died, but your courage to reveal this in the obituary moved me to let you know that you are far from alone. Please come to one of these meetings when you are up to it. Together. with some of these people, maybe we can do something important. There is strength in numbers. God bless you and your family.

I don't know your family but I wanted to express my sincere condolences for you loss. I lost my brother due to a drug overdose and 4 years later still find myself lying to all but those closest to me about how he died because my parents felt that telling the truth would make people think he brought it on himself. I am just now starting to open up to people about it. I commend you for addressing it in your son's obituary. There is no shame in addiction, it is a sickness like any other and losing a loved one from this disease hurts as much as if they had any other disease. I pray that time will heal your pain.

Dear Alex,
I am so saddened by your leaving us; forever this time. You were a young man with huge potential. As Aunt Marie said, you lit up a room when you walked in. You were the guy with everything under control. You lived more in your 24 years than most people do in many more. I wish you could have seen the danger you were to yourself. I could see your last days were not happy ones. I wish you could have stayed around a bit longer and settled into your life. I'll miss you forever, please rest in peace.
Love,
Uncle Bob

This makes me cry as I am a mother of an adult who died from alcoholism. I never got to say good bye, living a distance away. Sally died alone. I understand like most don't. My heart and soul goes out to his mom, dad, and brothers. I understand.
