Obituary of Carolyn P. Gordon
Carolyn P. Gordon, age 71, of Killingworth passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at The Connecticut Hospice in Branford after a courageous 15-month battle with ALS. She was the beloved wife of Yale J. Gordon, Sr. Carolyn was born in Middletown on July 15, 1943, the daughter of Grace (Cervini) Pettinato of Haddam and the late Victor J. Pettinato, Sr. She was raised in Chester and married Yale at St. Joseph's Church in Chester on May 14, 1966. She has been a resident of Killingworth for the past 46 years and served the community as assistant to the First Selectman for 15 years before retiring in 2011. Carolyn enjoyed spending time with her family, relaxing by the pool, shopping, cheering on her grandchildren at their sporting events, traveling, especially to Italy, Ireland, Myrtle Beach and Ogunquit, ME, and performances at the Goodspeed Opera House. She was also an avid reader and gardener. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Carolyn also leaves her children, Yale J. Gordon, Jr. and his wife Alisa of Killingworth, Mark J. Gordon and his wife Kelly of Narragansett, RI and Suzanne E. Sosnowski and her husband Matthew of Haddam. Family was always the center of her life and she will be missed by her nine grandchildren whom she cherished, Zack, Haley, Michelle, Leah, Jack, Ben, Maya, Sophia and Emma. She was predeceased by her brother Victor J. Pettinato, Jr. She leaves her nephew Brian Pettinato and wife Erin of East Kingston, NH and her niece Erin Botelho and husband Brian of Cromwell, and their children. She also leaves her dearest and lifelong friend Cathy Comstock and husband Bob of Killingworth. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street in Centerbrook. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church, 48 Middlesex Avenue in Chester at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph's Cemetery.
