Aunt Sandy (my father, Ed’s oldest sister) was very dear to me. In years past, I remember playing hand after hand of setback with her and the family, talking, and enjoying a meal. In more recent years, I was overjoyed when she came with my aunt and uncle all the way from CT to upstate NY to attend gatherings, like my parents’ 40th anniversary. It was a surprise to have her there, and she brought so much happiness to them by attending. I also loved talking to her on the phone, hearing wisdom and getting her advice as I became a wife and mother. She was kind, generous, funny, with a quick wit, and though she has been through a lot of pain, always gave me a smile and told me I was a good kid (I’m 37 so that had made me smile a lot lately). She befriended my friend’s mother at a party in 2015, and she still asks after my Aunt Sandy to this day. She is one-of-a-kind, unforgettable, and all her own. I am so grateful I got to have a relationship with her, and I know she is happy to reunite with her love and her boys up in heaven. See you again, someday, and I love you, Aunt Sandy. Hope you get heaven’s best tomato sandwich there is.
