Thought of Warren and his love of bees today while mowing my lawn. Always loved to listen to his bee knowledge. After all what is more important spring flowers or green grass!
In 1999 I visited Jim Neville at 9 Maple Avenue for the first time. Jim and I met in Florida and he wanted me to meet his Connecticut friends. On the first morning, at about 8:30 in the morning, we heard, "Hey! Where are you?" from the living room below. We got up right away, threw our robes on and went down the steps.
There was Warren Elliot, with his arms spread out wide in greeting to me, Jim's new "girlfriend".
From that day on, I fell in love with this special guy. Warren was one of the most amazing self-made men I had ever met and I'm happy to say that ours was a relationship of mutual respect and admiration.
The one time he got mad at me was when he thought I got Jim to move out of Deep River for good, and Warren was never one to hide his feelings. He didn't talk to me for weeks! Once I finally explained that it wasn't my idea and that I always wanted a place... just a little place near Deep River to come back to so we could spend time with our dearest friends, he forgave me.
That was a happy day for me.
I will always miss Warren, and sad to say, Jim, who passed away 2 years ago on Warren's birthday, May 23rd.
Margo, who has become my "sister" in spirit understands when I say that the "3 Deep River brothers" are now together, raising cane!
xoxoxoxoxo!
Will always love you guys!
Grampa Warren, you have been one of the biggest roll
models in my life. I have learned so much from you and
admired every moment we have spent together. From sailing
around the cape on equaria to you throwing me in the
backhoe at 10 years old and letting me dig holes in your yard
all day long, as long as I filled them back in. I have learned
countless lessons from you, I've learned that hard work and
determination will reward you with the things you want and
that once you have your mind set on something you never let
anyone tell you otherwise.
You were a truly incredible man with endless stories about
the adventures you had. I'm incredibly proud to be your
grandson. You are the strongest man I have ever met in my
life, i hope your up there sailing through the turquoise
Caribbean waters now with the wind at your back. I'll love
you forever rest easy grampa.
