In the early 70s I was sitting in Donald's living room on Beacon Hill waiting to go with him to dinner, when I saw, hanging on the wall, that ever-present picture of him - a young Donald standing in front of an iron gate marked TASIS, which was, at that time, in Locarno - the very same gate that I stood in front of, five years later in Lugano (the gate had moved... not me....). At that point our relationship changed from being friends to being brothers. And how wonderful that his ashes will be scattered at TASIS, overlooking Lake Lugano. Not only is this wonderful for him, it is wonderful for me because every time I return to the TASIS campus, Donald will be there with me, as he was so many, many times before over the past almost 50 years!! The attached photograph of Kim and Donald was taken in 2016 in Switzerland as we drove together to one of our favorite spots in the Ticino - Val Verzasca. Please note in this picture, the unique way Donald's noted and fashionable attire blended in with that of the locals of the Valley - some villages in which date back to 1295 !! My special thanks go out to Kim (and Susan and others) for their devoted care for Donald after his brain injury - this was not only invaluable for Donald but a relief to those of us knowing his circumstances living alone. Riposa in pace fratello mio
