My condolences go out to my mother Cheryl and her two sisters during this difficult time. Though I never had a full relationship with my Grandmother Doris I was sad to hear that she was gone. For those who knew and loved her I hope that you are able to find comfort and recall the memories that make you smile when you think of her.
Simple Gifts
'Tis a gift to be simple, 'tis a gift to be free
'Tis a gift to come down to where we ought to be
And when we find ourselves in the place just right
'Twill be in the valley of love and delight
When true simplicity is gained
To bow and to bend we shan't be ashamed
To turn, turn will be our delight
Till by turning, turning we come 'round right
'Tis a gift to be loved and that love to return
'Tis the gift to be taught and a richer gift to learn
And when we expect of other what we try to live each day
Then we'll all live together and we'll all learn to say
'Tis a gift to have friends and a true friend to be
'Tis a gift to think of others and not only think of "me"
And when we hear what others really think and really feel
Then we'll all live together with a love that is real.
This song was written by Shaker Joseph Brackett and I felt it appropriate to add to Grandma Doris's memory book.
