Obituary of Doris Holmes Reynolds

Doris (Holmes) Reynolds, a longtime resident of Old Saybrook died on May 22, 2015 at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury. She was the beloved wife of the late John E. Reynolds. Doris was born in Essex, CT on December 26, 1928, daughter of the late Raymond & Gladys (Bielot) Holmes. She was a graduate of Pratt High School lettering in basketball and field hockey. She continued her love of sports by bowling in several leagues and participating in local and regional tournaments throughout her life. Doris was a lifelong Red Sox fan and could rattle off stats about the players and the team when asked. she also enjoyed UCONN men and women basketball. Doris was a travel agent for many years and was fortunate to travel the world and experience the many beauties and cultures of many different countries. She was the loving mother of Nancy Wollschleager and her husband Paul of Warren, ME, Cheryl Hero and her husband Frank of Renton, WA and Patricia Dugmore and her husband Raymond of Old Saybrook, CT. Doris is also survived by her sister Gladys Ianotti of Ocala, FL, grandchildren; Michael and Jeffrey Wollschleager, Stacy McCarty, Kristen Piatt, and Nicole Brodeur as well as great grandchildren; Faith and Levi Piatt and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Doris was predeceased by her sister Marjorie Ackerman and Kathleen Nelson. Memorial visitation will be held at Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street in Centerbrook on Tuesday from 4-6pm. Funeral and interment services will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Doris's name to the National Parkinson Foundation, Gift Processing Center, Box 5018, Hagerstown, MD 21741 or to the charity of your choice.
