Obituary of Elsie Bombaci
Elsie "Pat" (Simmons) Bombaci of Old Saybrook, CT died peacefully June 30th at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown with her family by her side. She is predeceased by her husband Louis Bombaci, Sr and two brothers George and Charlie from England. She was born in Melton, Suffolk England in July of 1926 to the late Walter and Harriet (Dermedy) Simmons. After finishing her education in Melton, Suffolk England, she was employed by Melton Laundry prior to marrying and moving to America. She met Louis near her home, where he was stationed, in April of 1943. They were married at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Woodbridge, Suffolk, England in December of 1945. They were married for more than 64 years. She was employed by her husband's business, Bombaci Builders as an administrative assistant. She took much pleasure in raising her family. She was a member of the First Church of Christ in Saybrook (Congregational). She enjoyed knitting, mending, embroidery, baking and canning. Elsie is survived by two children: Elizabeth Bombaci West of Ivoryton and Louis Bombaci Jr. of Quaker Hill and a son in law William J. West of Niantic. She is also survived by a brother, Arthur Simmons of Melton, Suffolk England. In addition, she is survived by grandchildren: Lisa West Wilder Carideo of Colchester, Kimberly West Howley of East Haddam, Mitchell Stout of San Diego, California, Mathew Bombaci of Kona, Hawaii, and Wyatt Burgoyne of Clinton. She is also survived by five great grandchildren: Sierra, Kelsey, Gavin, Jonathon, and Ryder. The family would like to thank Homemakers and Companions and the excellent nursing staff at Middlesex Hospital. A special thanks goes out to Dr. Malon for her care and compassion. She leaves behind a legacy of love and will be missed by all who were touched by her. A private graveside service was held on July 7th in the Riverside Cemetery in Old Saybrook.
