I first got to know Steve, when he recruited me along with my friend John Bard, into the National Guard. John did not last long, but I stayed for nine years, working in the motor pool with Steve. Few men have earned the level of respect that I had for him, even amongst our fellow Guardsmen. After I left the service, he and my family remained friends. I wish to extend my most heartfelt sympathy to his wife, Claudia, the two of you will always have a special place in my heart, will remember you both, always. May God be with you, Steve.U
