I knew Pat when he was the most charismatic Banker in New Haven. I asked Pat to help us with the financing for the Schubert Theatre then being brought back to it's former greatness. When all other banks were hiding from civic loans Pat said:
"Sure, why not". Later he was heard to say to the Loan Officer: "This thing better work or I'll be taking tickets and you'll be sweeping floors." That's the kind of guy Pat was !

Julie and I extend our condolences to Pat's family. I join others in extolling his leadership in the Greater New Haven community. I treasured his wit, his facile mind, his willingness to mentor, his sophistication in both strategy and tactic, and the respect he accorded others. We celebrate a life well-lived and consider myself fortunate to have had Pat in mine.

Dear Mark and family...so sorry about your dad's passing. Throughout the years (we were really correcting those essays), I so enjoyed the stories you would tell. Keep him in your heart always; remember he wanted to go to D's in Madison and not Adrianna's...he stirred up the childhood memories that evening, I am sure!

Pat and I were room-mates our freshman year at Notre Dame. After graduation we met only once - when we both had sons graduate from ND in '90. I'll never forget the time Pat's parents were abroad and he decided he had to visit "The City" while they were gone. He was short on money so he decided to "borrow" pieces of uniforms from various NROTC friends so he could get furlough rates on the train from South Bend to NY. He made the trip in a uniform with sleeves 3-inches too short, pants 2-inches too short, a hat that didn't fit, got the furlough rate without leave papers, and made the trip looking like a scarecrow - and he got away with it!
Thanks for the memories Pat - God Bless.

Pat was a friend of my late husband, Sam Bowlby. They served together on a bank board, and Sam was legal counsel assisting Pat with another bank's merger. They shared many laughs together. I had the great pleasure of their company for lunches and dinners in and around New Haven. Pat was possibly the most giving man I have known, working tirelessly in his community. He will be greatly missed. I know that his family and friends will be comforted with wonderful memories.

I can just picture the two of them in Heaven drinking a toast to the MBC view on a sunny afternoon. My prayers are with you in this sad, sad time.

We've been friends since Pat came to New Haven in 1977, the year Didi and I were married. And you have always been one of our best-loved friends. Always fun and smiling, everyone was drawn to Pat instantly. Our last encounter was on Pat's chartered boat on Captiva Island, FL, and the champagne was flowing! You'll live on in our hearts, Patrick McFadden.

I was so saddened to hear of Pat's passing. I was working for First Bank when he came to us from the former Chemical Bank and remember him fondly.
I was part of the group that staffed 3 new branches of First Bank in New London County and our relationships with him were very special. We were one of the first sources of triumph for him, as the branches took off like gangbusters. So we did him a lot of good. At the same time, he was like our group Rabbi - ironic for such a good Irishman! Pat nurtured us, encouraged us, and participated in many of our 'events' - I particularly remembering taking his glasses off so that the Waterford staff could throw him into the Thames River during the annual canoe races (with his then-wife, Mary Jo's permission!). He was always a good sport!
Pat meant a lot to us in New London County, and after I moved over to the Trust Department, he continued to be my Rabbi - a guardian angel of sorts. I hadn't seen him, really, since I left banking in 1991, but I remember him fondly. He left quite a mark on Connecticut and he will be missed.

I never wanted to believe we would really lose him. I'm sorry for all of his family and for us, his friends. I'm just going to miss him so much. Love and thanks to Dana, who shared such a loving marriage with Pat. Giant hugs to the kids and the rest of the family. I'll be at the services for a cry and a laugh together because I know he'd want it that way. His life, his love, and his friendship were very important to me and as I continue to live my own life, I know I am not alone when I say I will always feel the profound influence he had on me.

I smile at the thought of Pat. He was an intimidating figure for me, when I first began to work with him. Larger than life. But he respected hard work and loyalty, and I am proud to count him as a friend as well as client. He always made a positive difference, and what better legacy is there than that? Bill
