Obituary of Kathryn Elizabeth Tretter
Kathryn Elizabeth (Wegs) Tretter peacefully entered into the spiritual world on September 9, 2015. The daughter of Gerald and Mary Wegs, she was born on June 20th, 1933 in Esterville Iowa. She graduated from Clarke College with an Art degree. She was a loving, caring, and patient mother who raised 6 children along with their father James Tretter. She left Niantic for 20 years, living in Taos, NM, returning to Niantic 2009. Kathryn was a certified Myofascial Therapist and a Craniosacral Therapist. Through her healing hands, she helped many overcome pain. She leaves behind many lasting friendships developed in Taos and the Niantic area. She will be remembered for her kind and genuine spirit, her gentle touch, and her sense for finding beauty in all things. Although she was slight in stature, her presence was grand. Kathryn was a true naturalist. She practiced yoga daily, meditated daily, and wouldn't let a day pass without at least one walk. She was an avid reader of history and naturopathic ways. All those fortunate enough to have known Kathryn will be forever touched by her spirit. She leaves behind her son David and wife Kathryn (Kiff) from Niantic, with whom she resided. Sons Gregory from Stamford, CT, Paul and his wife Michaela from Rainier, WA, Jon and Elizabeth from Dover NH, and daughters Ellen Galliantti from Tacoma, WA and Colleen from Bozeman, MT. She also leaves her brother Jim Wegs from Medford, OR, and her sister Margaret Wegs from Saganaw, MI. She was a grandmother to Cole, Owen, Blake, JB, Maegan, Sarah, Michael, Lucy and Lyra. She was also a great grandmother to Sophia and Finn. In her memory and to celebrate her life we ask that you do a random act of kindness for a stranger. Contributions in her memory can be given to organizations she supported. Please consider the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), CT Public Television (CPTV) and National Public Radio (NPR). A celebration of life will be held at a later date. "In this life we cannot do great things. We can only do small things with great love". Mother Teresa.
